An estimated 1.3 billion people around the world are at risk of lymphatic filariasis (LF) infection, and more than 120 million are infected. Countries where LF is found are mostly in the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. They are also among the world’s poorest countries, as LF is closely linked to poor sanitation and poor housing quality.
